4 must-see clashes in central Texas

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Friday night, downtown Texas 6A schools receive a final shot in other districts. The third week is the end for the top-ranked schools before the core district games begin next week.

Anderson High School and head coach Roderick Thompson beat Westwood 52-14 Thursday night at High School Football Live at KBVO. Collin Page, Anderson’s senior, scored five touchdowns when the Trojans celebrated a victory for the first time in 2021.

The Trojans open the district game against Pflugerville in two weeks after a farewell next week. Westwood will host Hutto next week to open the District game 25-6A.

4 clashes for week 3 in central Texas

Westlake Vs. Mansfield Summit (neutral place)

After winning by road, after winning at home, Westlake, the best ranked, will play a neutral game to close his schedule outside the district. The Chaps will face Mansfield Summit (1-1) Friday night at 7:30 p.m. at Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusader Stadium in Belton.

The Chaps secured a dominant 34-14 victory over Euless Trinity, then ranked sixth, but it was a game Westlake led 27-0 at halftime. Senior quarterback Cade Klubnik has not been asked to present great past stats in Westlake’s two wins by 61 points combined. Still, Klubnik has 548 yards in the air with four touchdowns and no interceptions.

Travis Lake in Rockwall

Lake Travis will face its third-ranked opponent in so many games when it hits the road to face 20th-ranked Rockwall (2-0).

The Cavaliers improved to 2-0 with a 52-20 victory over Converse Judson Friday, moving from seventh to sixth place in the 6A state rankings. Senior Issac Norris led the Cavs with four touchdowns including an initial comeback to lead the Cavs.

Round Rock vs. Cedar Park at Gupton Stadium

Round Rock has been one of the most dominant teams in central Texas for the first two weeks. The Dragons exploded Belton on the road Friday by 35-0, winning their two games by a combined 104-17.

Round Rock wins with a running attack penalty, racking up 757 yards and 10 touchdowns in its first two games. Senior Trayvian McCoy-Gay has more than half of that total with 396 yards, while the average is 12.6 yards per carry. Cedar Park won a great 29-7 rebound over Cedar Ridge after losing their score to Vandegrift by 35. Senior quarterback Josh Pell threw 296 yards and two touchdowns in his victory over the Raiders.

Rouse Vs. Weiss and The Pfield

This is the best of the most thrashing games in central Texas. Rouse enters the game 2-0, scoring 44 against Burnet and then winning a wild 57-54 game against Anderson.

Junior quarterback Mason Shorb has gone through 816 yards and 10 touchdowns in his first two games. The Weiss Wolves win 49-21 over Glenn, after a 43-35 loss to Harker Heights. Weiss is only playing his fourth season on college football and is looking for a recovery season. After a 9-3 record in their second college season, the Wolves won 3-6 in 2020.
