Allen West calls police for DWI arrest of his wife and apologizes publicly to Dallas mayor

Republican candidate for governor Allen West on Sunday killed Dallas police for arresting his wife for allegedly driving while intoxicated Friday night.

West said he can prove the charges are false and demands that they be removed, the officer fired and a public apology from the Dallas police chief and mayor.

“Right now I’m very angry,” West said in a video he posted on social media recounting the arrest.

Police said Angela West, 61, was arrested after taking a standardized field sobriety test. The Dallas Morning News reported that she was taken to the Dallas County Jail on charges of driving while intoxicated with a 15-year-old, according to a police report.

West said his grandson was in the car, but his wife only had lemonade and water that night. He said he has the receipts to prove it.

“This sucks,” West said in a social media post. “I support the thin blue line now, but this is insidious. They put my grandson in danger, put him in danger, left him with a couple of policemen and took his grandmother to prison when he ate water and lemonade ”.

West was not with his wife that night. He said he was at Waco having dinner with rock and roll Ted Nugent when he learned of his arrest.

West said that if no corrective action is taken on Tuesday “it will end up becoming your worst nightmare.”

West challenges Gov. Greg Abbott in a Republican primary in 2022. The former Florida congressman lives in Garland and spent nearly a year as president of the Texas Republican Party before announcing his candidacy for the seat of Abbott.
