August 28 news, rumors and links from Texas Rangers

Good morning, LSB.

The Rangers lost to the Astros last night, but got a strong performance from debutant Glenn Otto in his Major League debut.

Levi Weaver has post-game quotes from Otto and Chris Woodward, which was like “lol, yeah, that start was great, but I had to get him out of there, we have a Tank to worry about.”

Evan Grant’s game story says it’s the kind of debut the Rangers “haven’t had in nearly 40 years.”

Jeff Wilson also has quotes in his sub-stack, and all the rhythms mention that Glenn Otto will probably stay a little later.

Elsewhere, Evan Grant spoke with Hickory Crawdads manager Josh Johnson, one of the 10 black minor league executives of all the minor leagues.

That’s all for this morning. The Rangers continue the Silver Boot series tonight with the Astros, 6:05 first pitch with Kolby Allard on the Rangers mound. Have a nice weekend!
