Austin FC lost the 2nd Texas Derby against FC Dallas despite the second half of the climb

Austin FC will then travel internationally for the first time this season to face Vancouver Whitecaps FC at 6pm on September 4 at BC Place.

AUSTIN, Texas – Austin FC were unable to overcome a four-goal deficit and lost to FC Dallas for the second time in a row in their opening season, falling 5-3 at the Q2 Stadium.

FC Dallas took advantage of Austin FC’s mistakes by playing the ball from behind to advance 1-0 in the first five minutes. Austin FC responded with a Julio Cascante header in the 13th minute. Then things got ugly. Member of the USMNT Ricardo Pepi broke the deadlock in the 35th minute. In the blink of an eye, FC Dallas scored two more goals after Pepi’s to make it 4-1 at the break.

FC Dallas ’momentum also came in the second half. After Josh Wolff gave way to Jhohan Romana, Hector Jiménez and Tomas Pochettino at the break, Romana he headed a ball to his feet of a FC Dallas player, which led to a fifth goal.

Austin FC gave FC Dallas a chance in the second half, but scored two goals in the 58th minute Minute 67 to reduce leadership.

On a small note, Austin FC fans first saw Moussa Djitte, who replaced Cecilio Domínguez in 9th place with 10 minutes left. Djitte’s debut did not have any events, as he did not see any real opportunity to score even long on the ball.

Austin FC remains at the end of the Western Conference standings with Houston at 19 points.
