And to find out more, here we are with pitmaster James Kim.

First of all, it’s a lovely smell when you walk through this area.

But tell us a little bit about what will take place tomorrow and where does all this real breast experience come from?

“Well, we started it as something we wanted to share, the Texas BBQ, with the people here in Hawaii,” Kim says.

“We enjoy the barbecue and I think the people here will feel the same when we try our stuff.”

You had a shop in Wahiawa and North Shore that ran to you.

How has it been with the community and what makes you so unique with this piece?

“We got a lot of support from the community,” Kim says.

“We’ve made a lot of friends over the years since we started doing this. What makes us different, not special, but what makes us different, we use real wood in the deactivated propane tanks that we turned into smokers to smoke all our meat. And that’s the traditional way to barbecue in Texas. “

When you say cook on these things, how is the cooking process?

So what makes it something super juicy and tasty?

“Well, in Texas, the apple is king,” Kim says.

“The breeze was originally just a piece of cheap meat that no one really wanted. It just took a long time to cook and make it tender, nice and juicy. So what we do is smoke our arms for about 12 to 14 hours on average. This does not include any of the preparation times. But we spend a lot of time, a lot of work and a lot of love in this ”.

Well, speaking of love, we have this beautiful masterpiece that you have created.

If you don’t mind, tell us a little bit about what you offer in this table.

“Along with our breasts, we offer our spare ribs, pork chops,” Kim says.

“And also the jewel in the Texas barbecue wreath along with the branch that is our beef ribs. Short veal ribs. And besides, we’ll show you the kind of tenderness we have. It’s just falling apart and it’s intimate. “

So again, your soft opening starts tomorrow.

So what can we expect from tomorrow in the coming weeks or months?

“So tomorrow we’ll do a pre-test and have our official program open on Sept. 1,” Kim says.

“But that soft opening will continue as we continue to move away and prepare for our grand opening later.”

Again, this is called Sunset Texas Barbecue here in Kaka’ako.

The soft launch kicks off tomorrow.
