A march for women’s reproductive rights is scheduled for October 2 in Topeka.
Haeli Maas, a law student at Washburn University, is organizing the event to protest new legislation in Texas that prohibits abortion after six weeks of pregnancy and allows Texans to sue anyone who helps, incites or perform this abortion. Texas law makes no exceptions for cases of rape or incest.
Maas says Texas law has a “huge impact on all women’s reproductive rights, not just Texans.”
The Topeka march will begin at 10 a.m. on Oct. 2 and will run from Evergy Plaza, 630 S. Kansas Ave., to the Kansas State Capitol.
