Redbirds hosts Illinois, Missouri and North Texas for the 2021 Redbird Classic

NORMAL, low – Illinois State will host a trio of teams at the Redbird Classic 2021 this weekend, Sept. 17-18 at the Redbird Arena. The tournament, which is the second of three ISUs to host this season, features state rival Illinois, Missouri and North Texas. The Redbirds ‘first game will be against North Texas’ Mean Green on Friday, Sept. 17 at 10 a.m.

The state of Illinois will honor Dr. Linda Herman, who served in the ISU Department of Athletics for 30 years as both administrator and coach, unveiling a banner at the Redbird Arena before the Redbird volleyball game at the 7pm against Illinois on September 17, 2021.

During her managerial stint, the Redbirds won 117 valley championships and 16 trophies in the entire league. She was a senior women’s administrator and spent several seasons as interim athletics director at Illinois State.

Prior to being an administrator at Illinois State, Herman coached the Redbird volleyball team for seven seasons and posted a 267-112 record, including a couple of national appearances at the Intercol Athletics Association tournament. Illinois State welcomed three teams from the NCAA Tournament to Redbird Arena for the Redbird Classic in 2019, and finished 2-1 over the weekend.
