LUBBOCK, Texas – Macy Schultz i Kirsten Davis had two goals each to help lead Texas Tech to a 6-0 win without a conference over Abilene Christian on Sunday night at the Walker football complex.
The Red Raiders (3-0-1) got their third win of the season with the goalkeeper Madison White recording four stops, while the offense scored more goals since the 5-0 win over West Texas A&M last season and coincided with a six-goal performance in the first season of 2019. TTU goes 5-0 of all time against ACU in the series, with all five wins at Lubbock.
Schultz scored the first goal of the match at 14th minute of play with a double assist of Cassie Hiatt i Macy Blackburn and was followed by Davis who hit the 22ndnd minute by a 2-0 lead. Both goals gave the Red Raiders a 2-0 lead at the break before a bout in the first 10 minutes of the second half made it 6-0.
Texas Tech took a 3-0 lead at 47th minute with ACU with own goal and then went up 4-0 on Davis ’second goal of the night just 46 seconds later. Davis now has 34 professional goals for the Red Raiders. TTU added its lead three minutes later with the first year Macy Blackburn scoring the first goal of his career with a double assist from Davis and Schultz. Blackburn’s goal reached eh 50th minute by a 5-0 lead before Schultz attacked for the second time in the 54thth minute off a Davis assist.
Schultz was originally credited with the own goal, but when reviewing the film it was ruled as an own goal. Schultz and Davis now have three goals this season to lead the Red Raiders.
Texas Tech is now 3-0 at home with three stops. The Red Raiders are 2-0 in their current four-game stint continuing with Cal State Fullerton arriving in Lubbock to play a game at 7 p.m. Thursday before playing at UTSA next Sunday at 6 p.m. Walker Soccer Complex.
