CARROLLTON, Texas – Texas A&M’s No. 16 men’s golf team faces a formidable course as it competes in the Maridoe Collegiate Invitational at Maridoe Golf Club, Monday through Wednesday. The three days of the tournament can be seen on the golf channel from 4pm to 7pm
Five of the top ten teams in the nation join the Aggies, including Arizona State No. 3, Texas No. 5, Oklahoma No. 7, Wake Forest No. 8, No. 9 Texas Tech, No. 21 SMU, No. 25 Liberty, Baylor. , Florida Gulf Coast, Howard, North Texas, Ohio State, TCU and USC.
The Aggies opened the season with a win at the Marquette Intercollegiate, shooting an 832 under 32 and defeating South Florida four times. The victory meant third place for the Aggies under second-year leadership Brian Kortan.
“We came home with a win, which was a good feeling, but we just got back to our routines,” Kortan said. “We qualified to prepare for another tough tournament. It’s a fantastic course. We’ll have to play great golf to have a chance to win. I’m looking forward to seeing the guys come back. It’s a field style. of golf different from what we saw last week. A little more warm, but they should be comfortable as a lot of guys have played there. “
The Maroon & White fabric comes out at noon in Hole 1 and blends in with Arizona State and Texas. Competing for Texas A&M are Walker Lee, Sam Bennett, Michael Heidelbaugh, Phichaksn Maichon i Vishnu Sadagopan.
Lee achieves his fourth victory as a collegiate by opening the season with a one-off victory at the Marquette Intercollegiate. The Houston natives carded rounds of 66, 67 and 69 to shoot 14 of less than 202.
Bennett and Heidelbaugh tied at 12th to 5 years. Heidelbaugh, who was competing for the first time in his career, set a new tournament record as he scored an eighty-eighty-seven in the second round. Maichon tied at 22nd to 3 minors and Sadagopan tied to 13th at the Washington County Individual last week at 4 years old.
