Texas QB commits Maalik Murphy to a collarbone injury

Four-star quarterback Maalik Murphy’s career may have ended abruptly on Friday night.

Junipero Serra’s star fell with an upper body injury in the first half against Warren and was unable to return to the competition. Serra eventually fell to Warren 14-0. His overall record is now 1-3 this season.

Reports initially claimed it was a pectoral injury, but Jason Suchomel of OrangeBloods confirmed Saturday that Murphy is being evaluated for a right collarbone injury.

Murphy was in the in the second part and was not wearing a sling, which is a positive sign regarding the severity of the injury.

Murphy is ranked No. 9 quarterback for the 2022 cycle and is one of Texas ’best-rated commitments in the class. He is physically gifted and has a lot of advantages, but he needs the reps and experience to take his game to another level.

Longhorns Wire will provide an update on Murphy’s injury as it becomes available.
