Texas Vs. Arkansas: football prediction, selection, football match, odds, live broadcast, online viewing, tv channel

Things are about to come back to life when it comes to the rivalry that had been latent between the No. 15 Texas and Arkansas. It looks like college football is coming back, but at the same time it looks to the future, as Southwestern Conference rivals will face off before meeting in the Southeastern Conference. But for now, we’ll have to settle for a canopyless game that should be one of the most exciting clashes of the second week of the college football season.

Texas looked impressive in their first game with freshman coach Steve Sarkisian, who crushed Louisiana 38-18 behind a star-studded monster that returned to runner-up Bijan Robinson. Arkansas, on the other hand, struggled for three quarters in their first goal against Rice and at one point dragged the Owls 17-7 in the middle of the third quarter. But Razorbacks quarterback KJ Jefferson represented two touchdowns as part of an unanswered 31 points in the final 23 minutes to retire 38-17 and start the season 1-0.

The Longhorns and Razorbacks have played 78 times, 73 of which came before Arkansas left the SEC after the 1991 season. Texas has a 56-22 lead. Still, Arkansas beat Texas 31-7 in the most recent clash in the 2014 Texas Bowl. What can we expect from this game? Here are the stories to follow and the options from our expert group.

Texas Vs. Arkansas: You need to know

Historical rivalry: While these two teams haven’t played in the same conference for 30 years, Texas and Arkansas remain bitter rivals. Most notably, the pair played the 1969 “Game of the Century” which eventually led to Texas’ second national championship. Ask many Razorbacks fans who were at the Southwest Conference and they will tell you that Texas is still Arkansas ’fiercest rival. Fans look forward to renewing the rivalry as the SEC expands.

Exceed expectations: Last season, Arkansas coach Sam Pittman took over a program that went from 4 to 20 under former director Chad Morris, including a 0-16 mark in the SEC play. Despite playing a SEC-only schedule, the Razorbacks won three games and lost to Missouri, LSU and Auburn by seven points combined. Due to progress, Arkansas is a potential breakaway team in the SEC in 2021.

Bijan’s show: Robinson entered the 2021 football season as a dark horse candidate for the Heisman Trophy. Through a game, Robinson has been up to the hype. The Arizona native ran 103 yards and a few touchdowns while adding 73 more yards and a marker. Sarkisian felt comfortable moving Robinson across the field to get the ball to him in unique ways, whether he made it to the shot, whether it was to the receiver or attacking the center of the field. Arkansas needs to be prepared for anything.

Run first: Jefferson was inconsistent in his first start, throwing just 128 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Still, Arkansas ’running game looked solid early on against a decent defensive front from Rice. Trelon Smith ran 102 yards and one touchdown without a negative play. Jefferson added 89 running yards and a couple of touchdowns to the ground, including a 34-yard spread in the first quarter. Pittman is an offensive line coach by trade, so expect Arkansas to lean heavily on his front.

Texas vs. Prediction Arkansas, selections

Featured game | Arkansas Razorbacks vs. Texas Longhorns

Arkansas would like nothing more than to win a victory over a ranked rival who is also a historic rival. With both teams returning a new starting lineup to the offensive line, this match will be decided outside the hash marks. I saw enough of Robinson to know that Texas would come to explosive games, even against a solid Arkansas background. Can Jefferson and Arkansas counterattack with explosive games? I am skeptical. Prediction: Texas (-6.5)
