The thieves snatched two bags of North Texas women from the store parking lot

Two North Texas women want the public to be on high alert the next time they shop for groceries.

Thousands of property were stolen from each of them in the same parking lot. One of the crimes was even captured on camera.

The Dashcam video shows Cindi Caudle being robbed while doing something she had done a million times before. The bag was placed in the passenger seat while loading his car during a recent Costco trip to Churchill Way in Dallas.

“I always try to park in a less congested area, which was a mistake because that constituted me like a sitting duck,” he said.

The video shows a vehicle back at the spot next to Caudle and then opens the door as soon as it has turned its back. He then opened a second door while loading groceries, totally unaware that he was creating a shield for the thieves.

“I’ve never seen them, I’ve never heard them, I’ve never seen them,” he said.

The thief got out of his car, grabbed Caudle’s bag and left in 10 seconds.

All of this was captured on the control camera by a man who was parked nearby.

“The guy behind me was parked forward,” Caudle said. “He was yelling at me,‘ Ma’am! Ms! It robs you. “

The thieves came out with more than $ 7,000 in stuff.

“Tablet, headphones, iPhone, all of that,” Caudle said. “And then they spent more than $ 10,000 on Neiman Marcus.”

Meanwhile, in the same parking lot on a different day, Fran Mottern was loading the SUV with food for the Austin Street Shelter. He says he turned out of his car to walk a short distance to get his cart back and then his bag was gone.

Unlike Caudle’s case, all of Mottern’s doors were closed. But it didn’t matter. According to the police report, the thieves stole her bag, including her credit cards.

“They had already tried to use my credit cards within 20 minutes. Three times on Target,” Mottern said. “They have their driver’s license with my address and front door key.”

Two women and two crimes with an expensive lesson.

The chance here is that all buyers remember to be vigilant and watch your surroundings. None of these women knew they had been stolen until the thieves had left.

The Dallas Police Department says it is actively investigating the two crimes. They say it’s always a good idea to carry fewer valuables and even inventory what you have in your bag in case you ever have to report what’s missing.
