Volleyball gets a direct win over the Deer – Texas A&M Athletics

HONOL – Texas A&M volleyball only needed three sets to secure its first win of the season Saturday night, as Maroon & White beat Fairfield in straight sets in their second outing of the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic.

A mix of 15 Aggies saw playing time in the sweep, as Lauren Davis recorded double-digit kills for the second straight game ending with 14 in .286 hitting. All but three Aggies recorded at least one excavation, as Macy Carrabine led the defensive efforts with 21.

Three consecutive bushes of Mallory Talbert gave A&M an initial 5-4 lead. Kill back to back Lauren Davis extended the Aggies ‘lead to seven in the middle of the set, before the Stags stormed again to tie the set at 23. Davis’ team’s seventh-leading kill pushed Maroon & White to the seven-point mark. , as a junior block and Talbert sealed the box, 25-23.

Laura ‘Bird’ Kuhn mixed her training while a trio of Agies debuted in season with Ciera Hecht, Madison Bowser i Lauren Tam being in the mix throughout the second set. A kill by Hecht ignited a six-point run to gain an 8-2 lead. Sitting with a nine-point lead on playing .400, London Austin-Roark brought A&M to a double-digit cushion, while Bowser’s first professional career extended it. Three straight points from Fairfield extended the set, but Austin-Roark closed it out for the 25-18 victory.

It was a back-and-forth battle to start the third, before A&M scored six in a row to get the score to 15-9. A couple of Talbert assassins stretched the margin as freshmen Faye Wilbricht i Brooke Frazier he entered the field to make his first career appearances at Maroon & White. Back errors against Fairfield sealed the decisive set for the Aggies, 25-16.

Texas A&M will finish the competition at the Hawaiian Airlines Rainbow Wahine Classic on Sunday against the host of the Hawai’i tournament. The first service between Aggies and Rainbow Wahine is at 22:00 (CT).
