Vretis: “Our term is null and void” following the latest Texas Supreme Court decision

SAN ANGELO, Texas – The local health authority in Tom Green County, Dr. James Vretis, has issued an order to implement property control measures due to the increase in COVID-19 and the stress it is having on local hospitals.

Today, the Texas Supreme Court has granted an emergency motion by the governor of Texas in a case against the San Antonio School District’s mask warrant.

Judges said the status quo has been overseeing the governor in decisions regarding Texas residents during the coronavirus outbreak.

What this means for Tom Green County students and staff is that, for the time being, no masks will be needed.

Dr. Vretis said, “In fact, we left the order so that there would be a space for movement to come and go with the school districts to try to find out what works best for them. The Texas Supreme Court issued an order temporary restriction against all mask mandates, so our mandate is now void. “

Today’s Texas Supreme Court ruling is the opposite of what was handed down earlier this week in favor of the Dallas County School Mask Warrant.
