What you need to know for the opening of the season

AUSTIN (KXAN) – The Texas football season returns Saturday with the nation’s full force “Burnt Orange.”

After playing the 2020 season with a 25% capacity limit at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, more than 100,000 fans are expected to kick off the campus area on Saturday for the start of the 15 : 30 against Louisiana.

I return the Boulevard that returns

Bevo Boulevard’s popular pre-game attraction returns with some major additions after a year-long hiatus. Bevo Blvd., which runs down San Jacinto Street to the stadium, will have food, drink, carnival games and even a zip line to bring fans to the stadium hours before the start.

Texas will also feature a local food truck area in Winship Circle called Hangout Me Hangout. Bevo Blvd. opens Saturday at 11 p.m.

COVID-19 Precautions and Masks

Texas Athletics wrote on its website that masks are recommended at the football stadium and will be available at all stadium gates.

In addition, there is a vaccination clinic on Bevo Blvd. At amateur services between gates 4 and 5, anyone who demonstrates vaccination will receive a voucher to get a bottle of bottled water, soda or popcorn for free.


The live pet Bevo will go down its own boulevard to 12:30 p.m. to enter the stadium.

At 1:15 p.m.., Fans can line up on Bevo Street. for the Stampede Stampede as head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns arrive at the stadium.

Children ages 7 to 12 can participate in the Hook ‘Em Herd and run on the field before the game begins. Anyone interested in participating can register in the tent in front of door 6.

At 3:10 p.m.., Texas will officially dedicate the Campbell-Williams field, recognizing the two Longhorns Trophy winners Heisman Earl Campbell and Ricky Williams.

Post-game parties

Longhorn City Limits returns to LBJ Lawn after the match. Shakey Graves and Sir Woman will perform.

In addition, the silent nightclub returns to Longhorn City Limits. Three live DJs will play through three different channels. Fans will receive wireless headphones and be able to choose from three different channels.
